  1. Amsterdam - travelersdigest.com home page has a list of links so long you won't know where to start, but you will find a host of information

  2. Amsterdam - lonely planet offers the basic traveler info on weather, transportation, shopping, etc. but I liked the "Top Picks for Amsterdam" and the '3,2,1' blog that had great pictures

  3. Amsterdam.info - this site has all sorts of basic info plus an immense list of restaurants and some suggested itineraries and special tours; see page explaining Public Transport OV Card--a public transportation pass that can be purchase in different increments--1 day, 5 days, etc. and entitles the rider to unlimited tram, bus, metro rides, purchase these across the street from the Central Train Station

  5. whyGo Amsterdam - has lots of info on travel to Amsterdam in the 4 various seasons, some free walking tour details, and an interactive map, amsterdamlogue.com

  6. Amsterdam Travel -  things to do, when to go, bicycle riding, best markets, coffeeshop dos & don'ts, beaches, festivals, museums, shopping paradise--these are some important areas to cover before your trip, especially where to shop, as Amsterdam is known for it's bargains as well as fashion, about.com

  7. 36 Hours in Amsterdam - Gisela Williams writes for the NYT, and here you'll find not only the title article but many others; check out the section called 'fast facts' for some good tips, travel.nytimes.com

  8. Amsterdam - a good place to start for info such as: city districts, understanding, getting in, getting around, what to see & do, festivals, buying, eating drinking, sleeping, staying safe, and more--very comprehensive and thorough, wikitravel.org
