Atmosphere

Note: This restaurant has recently moved from the outside of the NorthGate Mall in Terra Linda and is now in the place of the former Ming Garden in San Anselmo's . It is, however, still getting great reviews!

Service

Service was good--for take out it was prompt and on the previous occasion, when we dined in, our waitress was patient with questions about vegetarian specials as well as with orders from 7 adults and teens. We had a strict time limit due to a show we were trying to catch and the staff was helpful in expediting our meal. On the basis of how much we enjoyed dining at China Village, we stopped in for take out this time.

Food

For appetizers we had the vegetable pot stickers and the green onion pancakes. The pot stickers are good but not as flavorful as the pork variety. The green onion pancakes surprised me by being thin and crispy; I enjoyed them although they were on the heavy side. For entrees we tried sesame beef, which was thin chewy pieces of fried beef in a dark rich glaze--good taste and texture. The beef fried rice was light and nice with plenty of beef. The final dinner we chose was the chef's special meatless chicken in sweet and sour sauce. This tofu is  prepared, battered, and fried and then put into the sauce of choice to stand in admirably for chicken. Another time we tried it in a lemon sauce (they serve it at least 8 ways). These dishes alone will keep our resident vegetarian coming back to China Villa for more!
