The Property
The hotel is considered a boutique
hotel. I imagined that meant it would be small and
quaint like a B&B. I was surprised, therefore, to find a
very large, modern hotel. I believe the term 'boutique hotel'
is being used loosely here to mean a property that is not part of a chain. The River Terrace
is a very attractive, stone fronted building with wide front
steps and an attractive lobby. My room did in fact
have a balcony and that balcony overlooked the Napa
River--canopied by greenery , quietly flowing past the rear
lawn of the hotel. Alongside of the river a walking/biking
path with benches welcomed visitors. Just below my balcony
was a heated pool and a patio area where guests could enjoy
their breakfasts outdoors in good weather.
My Room
Inside my room was much like any
well appointed hotel at first glance, but its newness and
some special design features made it nicer than many. For
one thing, the sitting area which had a comfortable sofa bed
and a glass coffee table made the room seem more
accommodating. In addition, the entrance hall had
several nooks and counters for wine and mini bar, the bath had
a separate dressing nook with counter and lighted magnifying
makeup mirror, and the bathroom had a wide marble vanity and
a deep jetted tub. The complimentary toiletry items were
from Bath & Body Works.
Services & Amenities
The hotel serves a complimentary
breakfast, which features hot drinks, juices, cereal,
pastries, bagels and toast, fruit, yogurt and several hot
items--eggs, potatoes, and sausage. While not gourmet, it is very
convenient. There is a bar in the lobby for drinks or
wine. As mentioned earlier there is a heated outdoor pool.
A small workout room is on the first floor. Wine, roses, or
an in-room massage can be added to your stay for an
additional charge.
