Location/Atmosphere

Just off the main drag of Yountville is a neighborhood with quiet, tree-lined streets--all within walking distance of the best restaurants in the wine country. Lavender, a Four Sisters Inn property, sits at the corner of Webber Ave and Yount Street.  It boasts a restored home with wrap around porch as well as numerous quaint outbuildings with both private gardens and a shared courtyard and parking area. On the main floor of the home is a sun porch used for breakfast with a nook for wine and cheese in the afternoon.  There is the reception desk area and 24 hr. coffee and tea service. The living room is cozy and allows for reading or socializing.  One evening we were treated to a complimentary wine tasting offered by a local winery in the living room.

Rooms

The guest rooms on the main floor each have private access from the porch. We had the pleasure of trying two different rooms during our stay.  The first one, off the front porch, was a nice sized bedroom furnished with antiques and boasting a gas fireplace in the corner.  The spacious bathroom had an old timey black and white tile pattern and glass doors that led to a private porch with a two person  jetted spa tub.  Very romantic.

Upstairs in the main house is a suite with huge bedroom (Including small table and chairs, plus a desk). a cozy sitting room, and a private bath with spa tub. There is even a mini balcony.

The views of the giant trees and quiet street are perfect for this quiet get away. There are 8 guestrooms in all.

Amenities

All the rooms are beautifully decorated and come equipped with cable television, wireless internet, a teddy bear on the bed (available for purchase), a morning newspaper, and a basket with wine glasses and corkscrew--after all, this is wine country! There is a wine and cheese service in the afternoon next to the reception area and living room.  This is certainly a welcome amenity, but, in the heart of wine country, the wine served should be a little bit better. There is also a coffee and tea bar available, as well as complimentary chilled water and soda, which is nice.  Breakfast always included a hot gourmet entree (poached egg casserole, quiche, etc.) breads, pastries, fruit, and juice.

These were self serve out on the enclosed sun porch, with staff to clear the tables and restock the breakfast items as needed. We borrowed bicycles to ride locally and enjoyed seeing the scenery at a leisurely pace, including a nearby farm with long horned steer.

Service

We were treated well from the start of planning our trip and reserving rooms over the phone.  While at Lavender, we met at least 4 receptionists, all of whom were pleasant and helpful. When we arrived we received a mini tour. The staff was available for advice, directions, and even booking tours or making other arrangements for guests.
