Atmosphere
Rainwater's is a elegant second floor restaurant with attractive city views. It has rich, cherry toned wood with dark leather for booths and chairs. Wood planters of green, leafy plants separate the large room into more intimate areas. White linen table cloths and small carafes of fresh flowers dress each table. Known for its steaks, it never-the-less has a good selection of seafood, pasta, and poultry. Now, back to the steaks! Rainwater's features prime, mid-western
corn-fed, aged beef, with all steaks cut daily by their master butcher. Downstairs, next to the lobby, is a room for private parties. Service couldn't have been more professional and helpful; friendly, too. Before our meal we were served little corncakes (they were kind of dry) and then half a warm, crusty sourdough loaf.
Entrees
The Prime Rib, served with choice of potatoes and sweet creamed corn, was delicious and cooked as ordered. It came with the requisite cups of horseradish cream, au jus, and sour cream (for the baked potato). The rack of Colorado lamb with dijon and oregano sauce was 4 large rib chops that smelled and tasted fabulous. An additional side dish of sautéed mushrooms turned out to be a serving dish worth of button mushrooms, juicy and yet not soggy. We could not finish all the food we had
Dessert
For dessert we tried the bread pudding. It was a moist, soft pudding made with Hawaiian egg bread and custard, served with two little cups--one with cream and one with praline sauce--to add to taste. The menu had more than ten desserts and they all sounded delicious
