  1. MFA: Museum of Fine Arts, Boston - open 7 days a week, site answers FAQs, tells about traveling exhibits, collections, museum history, mfa.org

  2. Museum of Science, Boston - open every day, the site offers special exhibit info, general info and maps; one review said the museum is full of things to do and see and it's so much fun that visitors can't help but learning new things without even realizing it, mos.org

  3. New England Aquarium - located on the Central Wharf and open every day, the Aquarium has IMAX, Whale Watch boat trips, special exhibits--Amazing Jellies is the current one--the website has web cams and lots more information, neaq.org

  4. The Freedom Trail- a non profit organization intent on preserving Boston's historic character, the Freedom Trail Foundation offers tours with "spirited costumed historic characters"; they help preserve 16 significant historic sites. The trail consists of a 2.5 mile walk along red brick or a red painted line between most of these historic spots (one can also take a self-guided tour, spending anywhere from 2 hours to a full day), thefreedomtrail.org

  5. Faneuil Hall Marketplace & Quincy Market - this centrally located area offers over 250 years of history, shopping, dining, strolling, events, street performers, don't miss it!

  6. Harvard University - a popular spot in the Greater Boston area, their website has a "Neighbors & Visitors" page with helpful information including maps, events, restaurants & lodging, historical information, virtual tours, and more, harvard.edu

  7. Harvard Museum of Natural History - the University houses a good number of worthy museums, but the Museum of Natural History, which includes the Botanical Museum, and Mineralogical & Geological Museum, and Museum of Comparative Zoology, should not be missed, hmnh.harvard.edu

  8. Boston Children's Museum - hands-on, informal environment with many settings in which kids can play and learn: a castle, a market, a Japanese house, a weaving studio, the Recycle Shop creativity center, and much more, bostonkids.org

  9. Filenes - history of the store and the original basement, founded in 1908, filenesbasement.com

  10. Boston Duck Tours - authentic renovated WWII amphibious landing vehicles are used to take you on an 80 minute tour of Boston, by BOTH land and water!
