The Tariff : Lunch for 2
The Setting
On a small street in Greenwich Village, Quantum Leap
gives off an international, natural, hippie vibe. This well regarded bastion
of healthful eating (some claim the best vegetarian food in the city) is a
great spot for lunch. Breakfast, brunch, and dinner are served as well. We
sat in an inviting, sunny table by the front window and browsed the eclectic
menu. Simply furnished with wood tables, exposed brick wall, chalk board
menu, plants in the windows--you get the picture.
The Service
Our waitress was very friendly and solicitous. We
felt very welcome. She even gave us advice for our afternoon shopping.
The Food
I thought ordering a veggie burger in a primarily
veggie restaurant might be too obvious, so we went with international themed
dishes. Since then I have come to find out that their veggie burgers
are the best and can turn carnivores into believers. I guess the next time
we're in NYC we'll be trying those specialty burgers. For our meal we tried
the soba noodles with vegetarian dumplings and veggies--very nice combo and
tasty dumplings that were not too heavy like some pot stickers. The Middle
Eastern platter had falafel, tabouli, humus, another spread, and pita
wedges. This combo is healthy and hearty fare. Both meals were
generous helpings; we shared and enjoyed every bite!
